Our Story
Our Story
The Barracuda is a family-run business located in a beautifully restored 18th century seafront villa set just a metre away from the Sliema coast. Opened by restauranteur Walter G. Cassar in 1978, the Barracuda has been run and managed with pride and attentiveness by the Cassar family ever since. Over the years the Barracuda name has become synonymous with the consistent quality and attention to detail which can only be achieved by those with a sincere devotion to the art of fine dining.
The award-winning Barracuda Restaurant occupies what was once the drawing room of a lavish historic villa, offering gorgeous unobstructed views of the sea and the two charming bays known as Balluta and Spinola Bay. While converting the villa to accommodate the Barracuda, great care was taken to ensure that the building retained its characteristic Maltese flair—so much so that it received an award from the local heritage foundation, 'Din L-Art Helwa.' The commitment to preserving this local landmark endures to this day.

Barracuda Restaurant is conveniently located along Malta’s most popular stretch of coastal promenade: the Sliema/St. Julian’s seafront. We are situated just a few meters away from the prominent church overlooking Balluta Bay.
A complimentary parking voucher is available to all diners for the nearby Le Méridien hotel car park. Please ask your server for the voucher before leaving the restaurant.

Under Chef Andrew Pace’s direction, the kitchen at the Barracuda has remained true to its Mediterranean roots with an emphasis on locally sourced, incredibly fresh ingredients.
Our new menu promises to continue to delight and surprise the restaurant’s regulars and new patrons. The menu is a take on Chef Pace's best signature dishes, rethought and elevated to complement the restaurant’s setting and ambiance.
Our Approach

I like to walk the restaurant floor and speak with patrons and am happiest when the clients do not choose something from the menu and leave the choice of food and wine pairing to me."
